Public Involvement & Engagement
MCWRA undertook a listening exercise in 2013, which consisted of several public meetings to begin collecting input and ideas on how to best manage the river while addressing multi-benefit needs. Key outcomes of these public meetings included a strong desire for local control, a comprehensive approach, and oversight by an existing agency of the eventual management program.
As MCWRA advances development of the LTMP, it has actively sought input and feedback on this LTMP from a wide range of local stakeholders to identify issues and management recommendations that balance protecting the natural resources in the Salinas River basin for future generations, while meeting the water needs of the public.
